Week 1 Assignments

Introduction to creating web pages, and telling others about it

A1 - My First Web Page

From a handout, key in the HTML code to create your first working web page. Use Notepad++ to do the typing (not WORD), and save the page with an .html file extension (not .txt). Test your page in a browser by double-clicking it in your folder directory where you saved it. Upload the page to Dropbox here

A2 - Email to a friend

Pretend you're sending an email to your best friend describing how the college experience is going for you. Speak to this person the way you would if you were talking to him/her directly. What classes are you enjoying? Why? What majors are you considering? Why? Be detailed. What does your future look like with a solid education behind you? What fields attract you? Even though you're "speaking to a friend," think of this almost as a diary entry. Complete this assignment in WORD. Upload to Dropbox here.

A3 - About Me

Using Google Slides (not PowerPoint), create at least 5 to 10 slides that describe you, your interests, your talents, your hopes and dreams … anything interesting about yourself that you want to share. Use pictures, backgrounds, typefonts, photos. Be creative. When you’re finished, I want you to share the presentation with me - (vaughn.nystrom@gmail.com).  Make sure I can edit your work. If you don’t know how to create or share a presentation, try this link.

In addition to your "About Me" presentation, you're going to add your mini-biography to the class site. Instructions will be given in class.

A4 - Bio for the Class Website

We'd love to know all about you. Using Notepad (or Notepad++ - not WORD), type up some paragraphs that tell us all about you. Each of you is unique, having experienced life in very different ways. I've already posted my bio to the class site. You can use that as an idea.

When you're finished, go to this link (I'll give you a password). I'll show you in class how to add your image and post your bio to the class site.
